How much does an exterminator cost on the South Shore?
An accessible wasp nest is often handled for under $400; bed bugs in a Longueuil apartment building can go past $1,000. The ranges below, taken from Greater Montreal sources, give you an order of magnitude before you request a quote. The exact price always depends on an inspection.
These ranges are published by pest control companies and price guides for Greater Montreal, which includes the South Shore, or, failing that, by sources covering all of Quebec. Each row names its source. They are neither prices set by this site nor a quote: the only binding amount is a written quote issued after an inspection by the exterminator who takes the job.
What makes the price vary
Floor area and number of rooms
A one-bedroom condo and a three-storey house need neither the same time nor the same amount of product.
How big the infestation is
A few mice caught early cost far less than a colony settled in since the previous fall.
The number of visits
Bed bugs and cockroaches: two or three visits. Check whether they are included in the quoted price.
The type of building
In a multiplex or a tower, neighbouring units often need inspecting, which takes longer than a detached house.
Access
A nest in a second-storey soffit, an attic with no hatch or a tight crawl space add time and equipment.
The method
Heat treatment for bed bugs costs more per job but is done in a single day.
Warranty and distance
A longer warranty costs more. Far from the exterminator's base, for example in Granby, a travel fee may apply; it must be written in the quote.
